CFIP Grant Eligibility

If you happen to be the owner of non-industrial land within the expansive range of 20 to 5000 acres in the state of California, you may qualify for a cost-shared assistance program. It's important to take note that the minimum acreage requirement is graciously waived for land zoned for timber production, thereby ensuring that a broader spectrum of landowners can access the benefits of this valuable assistance program.

Land Requirements for CFIP Grants

To meet the qualifying criteria, it is essential that a minimum of 10% of your forestland exhibits the presence of California native trees, as determined by canopy cover assessment. Additionally, your land should be zoned for uses that align harmoniously with effective forest management practices. This ensures that the eligibility requirements encompass not only the presence of native flora, but also the adherence to zoning regulations that support sustainable forest management.

Scope of Work Covered by CFIP Grants

Under the CFIP grants program, a substantial portion of forest management work costs, ranging from 75% to 90%, are eligible for coverage. This includes a broad spectrum of activities such as site preparation, pruning, herbicide application, pre-commercial thinning, and the responsible disposal of slash. Furthermore, in addition to these services, we also extend our offerings to include defensible space and tree services, which may be considered for coverage with prior approval from CAL FIRE's Forestry Assistance Specialist (FAS). This comprehensive approach ensures that a multitude of forest management needs can be met with financial support through the CFIP grants program, providing landowners with a versatile and valuable resource.

CFIP Grant Funding Sources

In the past, funding for CFIP projects was primarily sourced from California's Forest Resource Improvement Fund (FRIF). However, the current landscape has diversified, with funding now originating from a blend of State and Federal sources. It's worth noting that some of these sources might entail specific prerequisites or additional application procedures. Rest assured, our team is committed to assisting you throughout the process, ensuring that you receive tailored guidance and support. This flexibility in funding sources, coupled with our dedicated guidance, ensures that your land management needs can be effectively met while navigating any unique requirements that may arise.
